What is Oceanography?
What is oceanography? Oceanography is the study of every single thing related to the ocean. It can be animals and their habitats, plate tectonics, or ocean circulation. The people in charge of exploring the oceans are the oceanographers, in which they do their assigned work. There are different kinds of oceanographers, those being:
Biological Oceanographers
They study plants and animals, they are interested in how many they are and how they develop.
Chemical Oceanographers
They study the composition of seawater, the processes and cycles, and the chemical interactions of the seawater with the atmosphere and seafloor.
Geological Oceanographers
They explore the ocean floor and the processes that form things like mountains, volcanoes, valleys, or canyons.
Physical Oceanographers
They study the physical conditions and processes that occur within the ocean such as waves, currents, and tides.
It is important for us to study about the ocean because many animals are going extinct due to climate change, pollution, and many other factors. If we continue to study the ocean we can find solutions to these issues and protect our oceans.
